NaNoWriMo. Oops.
I can explain. When a story gets in my head and doesn’t get down on paper weird things happen. If my brain had a shoulder, that’s where the characters would be tapping right now. They want attention and they want it yesterday. Where was Llama’s focus yesterday? Yep, right here on the blog.
The goal for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month, in case you didn’t look it up yesterday like I suggested) is 50,000 words all written in the month of November. That’s an average of 1666.66 (repeating – for the math brains reading this) words per day.
I rounded it up to 2000 per day and no it was not because I’m superstitious when it comes to those 6’s.
I like round numbers.
My total count for my story, at the end of the day yesterday, was 184. To give you an idea of what that looks like, I am already up to 155 as of my typing the number 155. For anyone following the math, I did about 1/10 of my goal.
Did I fail yesterday? No, I did not.
I wrote yesterday. I started what may or may not become a book, and I wholeheartedly hope for the may, and not the may not. More importantly, my brain has characters tapping on its imaginary shoulders. They are not going to let me rest until their words and thoughts and actions pull me into the thick of their story and that’s a good thing.
That’s a very good thing. (That’s also 256 words.)
