The hum of our generator growls reassuringly, tucked in a corner just outside our back door. It’s been on since just after midnight. How do I know this? Because I was up until just shy of midnight finishing a book. The review for it was due today. (Yes it was worth the lack of sleep.)
So, at 11:45 I came back downstairs and opened my computer as the lights started to flicker, yet again. Yesterday was one of those days when the internet went out every time the power flickered.
It flickered a lot.
So, of course, the internet went out at 11:50 or so. Was it rebooting the router? The modem? I’ll figure it out eventually. In the meantime, I set to write my review. Because I’d read and reviewed the first two books in the trilogy, I double-checked those reviews to make sure I didn’t write the same thing in this one.
I find with this author’s work, I like to savor the story when I first start. (a chapter here, a chapter there, then two chapters or three) Then, when I am around 60% through the book, I’m all in and cannot put it down.
Maybe I’ll start a section here for book reviews!
I love that I stumbled into becoming a part of the review team for my favorite publishing house (https://oliver-heberbooks.com). Some of my favorite Romance authors are there and some new-to-me favorites. It reminds me of my old bookstore days, which I’ll probably reminisce about in another post. Most of all, it has given me an additional sense of purpose as I adjust and adapt to my post-covid, brain-fog-laden (with a dash of fatigue, to boot) 60s.
Time to curl up with the next book! (with the generator still growl-humming in the background)
