We left Mt McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge first thing in the morning. There were about 9 buses that drove us all to meet a train just outside of Talkeetna. We had assigned seats on the train.
I try not to have preconceived notions of things, but I definitely was wrong about the train. I expected to have seats that faced outward so we could easily see the scenery, and possibly animals. Somehow, I had gotten the impression that we’d have to go to a special car to get lunch. Instead, we were seated at tables, across from whoever else was assigned to it. We were facing forward, and it was beautiful, but…
I missed every animal anyone saw:
- 1 Dall Sheep
- 2 Eagles
- 3 Moose
Luckily, I made up for most of that on the cruise. Since most of the cruise was a blur because I had no idea I had covid. Without a fever, and having been through “allergy season” on land, I thought I was battling allergies the entire week. So, I’ll leave you with the last of my photos to peruse at your leisure:
My favorite dessert on board: Pavlova!

Glaciers:

Animal sightings:
Eagles:

Can you spot the sheep?

Finally, a moose!

That’s it for Alaska! If you’ve liked this series, please subscribe!
