Book Review: Island of the Swans by Ciji Ware

I love when I get caught up in a sweeping historical novel, and this one was just breathtaking.

Ms. Ware has deftly entwined a love story for the ages within the beautifully researched settings of Scotland, England, and the American Colonies in the 1700s.

It begins in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1760, where we meet our heroine. We are treated to decades of watching her grow into a strong woman of substance as it carries the reader through to its conclusion in 1797.

Based on the life of Jane Maxwell, Duchess of Gordon, this book breathes life into a tumultuous period of history that I find fascinating.
