Book Review: Monkshood, Tea, and Murder by Joni Folger

Oh, my goodness, Joni Folger has turned me into a mystery reader!

Sure, I read Nancy Drew as a kid and devoured every Phyllis A. Whitney book I could get my hands on. But, as an adult, I shied away from mysteries.

I mean, yes, I’ve watched a few mystery series and adore Father Brown…but read them? Oh no, not me. The idea of picking up a book and trying to puzzle out the mystery only to have to put it down and wait who knows how long to continue reading…it was just too much for this impatient reader!

My curiosity got the better of me, though. I loved Ms. Folger’s Looking Glass series (as J.G. Sauer) and could not resist reading more of her work…mystery or not.

I was not disappointed. The story grabbed me from the start and kept me going with each twist and turn.

The cast of characters are led by Lydie and Vanessa. They balance each other so well. Oh, and that cousin of Vanessa’s? I hope we’ll see more of him in a future book or two!

As for those other folks, well, you’ll just have to grab a copy and meet them yourself!
