Book Review: The Secret Gift by Jaclyn Reding

I love it when books cause me to picture scenes in them days after I finish them. Beautifully written, The Secret Gift is one of those books! I found it thoroughly engrossing and devoured it quickly. Days later, images from the story popped into my head randomly and made me smile.

I did, however, have a bit of a chuckle at my own expense. You see, I love Jaclyn Reding’s writing so much that I grabbed this to read without looking further into the description beyond Scotland and “cryptic message.” This stands so well on its own that it took me a while to realize it was related to one of my favorite Reding books, The Adventurer!

Now I want to go back, reread The Adventurer, and then read The Secret Gift again!

Released 5/21/2024

It can be found here on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. (among other wonderful booksellers!)

Description copied from Goodreads:

Leaving behind her life in New York, antiquarian bookseller Libby Hutchinson sets off for Scotland in search of her late mother’s ancestry. Guided by her mother’s cryptic message and an old photograph, Libby has no idea what to expect. Little does she know she’s about to find the greatest surprise of her life.

In a remote corner of the Scottish Highlands, Graeme Mackenzie thinks he is a safe distance away from the bevy of hopeful misses vying for his attention—and his name. But when wayward Libby unexpectedly lands on his doorstep, the fed-up Scottish aristocrat has had enough. The ensuing battle between the handsome laird and the stunning American lass provides Highland adventure aplenty, as well as a love that reaches beyond the ages…
