When I pick up a book by this author, I know I am in for a great story. Countess of Stars was no exception.
However, I did not expect the story of these characters in this sequel to Once Upon a Storm. Without explaining why (spoilers, darling!), I disliked Lucien so much in the first book that I completely dismissed him and expected this book to be about another character.
And that’s what made it so good. I was already thrown off-guard as the book started. By the time I was about 20 percent into the story, I was thoroughly captivated. (Not my usual 50 percent mark!)
I was so committed to Grace and Lucien’s story that no matter how hard I tried to take my time, I could not help myself. I kept reading and stepped further and further into their world.
And this was no ordinary gowns, balls and ton etiquette world, either! It had layers and twists and turns that touched my heart like few books can.
Countess of Stars is the second in a series. It stands well on its own, but you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you did not read Once Upon a Storm first. I highly recommend both; I love them so much!
