I don’t like to read contemporary fiction, especially ones written as beautifully as this one. You know the ones: They tug at your heartstrings, pulling them like old-fashioned taffy you can watch from outside a store window. Then, just as you’re sure those strings will snap apart, they start to warm and become stronger than before.
This is one of those books, and yes, I loved it!
The Hope Chest is so beautifully written that I was lost in the story from beginning to end. Although it’s the second in a series, it stands well on its own. However, reading the first book, Picket Fence, will add depth to The Hope Chest, and I highly recommend it.
