Star Cruising – Part 3

Where’ve I been? Why I was navigating through another bout of brain fog and fatigue.  Seriously, I’m starting to believe I need an internal lighthouse on those days, just to see my own thoughts. But I’m back, fog-free for as long as it lasts, and ready to put pen to paper.

(No pens or paper were truly implemented in this missive.)

But I digress.

I owe you a third installment of our “voyage to the stars,” so here it is.

As with most cruises, our star cruise included an excursion off the ship. Our destination was the planet of Batuu.  Most of you Disney fans will know this area as Black Spire Outpost in the Hollywood Studios part of Disney World. It’s filled with places with cool names like Oga’s Cantina and Ronto Roasters. Here you can get everything from blue (or green) milk or some interesting popcorn to Holocrons (both Sith and Jedi). Me? I brought home a porg.  But again….

I digress.

Approaching this excursion, knowing my creaky joints and occasional fog, was interesting. My husband and I went our separate ways once we docked.

Yes, we docked. We “landed” on Batuu quite a ways from where most people enter the area. Although I’ve been there before, this approach really made it feel like I landed on a different planet.

Why did we go our separate ways? Well, aside from my being creaky, I’m also not as fast because he has wicked long legs.

Yes, I said wicked. It’s a New England thing.

So, we went our separate ways, using our phones as datapads filled with assignments that shifted and changed depending on whether we had Rebel tendencies, First Order ones, or even Jedi. Heck, there’s even a RomCom path! I have to admit, one of my favorite assignments included hacking into a droid.

As I mentioned in a previous blog post, or at least I hope I did. Maybe? Okay, I’m saying it not: no spoilers! (If you said “sweetie” after that, you get a gold star, but you’re definitely in a different franchise) So, don’t expect me to tell you which droid or how I hacked into it, or how I “collected” artifacts to bring back to the ship.

Did I approach my adventure on Batuu differently because I’m over 60? No. Not at all. I respected my physical challenges, stayed aware of my foggy challenges, stayed away from stormtroopers and enjoyed the heck out of myself.

May the Force Be With You
