Walking the Llama

It dawned on me this evening that I haven’t written a regular blog post in a while. Once we came back from Alaska, I honestly wasn’t feeling very creative. Snuffy and sneezy, yes…creative, not so much.

But I’ve been reading a lot and posted a bit about our trip to Alaska.

That counts, right?

Whenever I feel “human” I take a quick walk in our neighborhood. This week, my husband has decided to join me in the evenings.

We call it “walking the Llama.”

I call it an excuse to hold his hand for a while. I might even tell him that.

Someday.

I love our neighborhood. Everyone I’ve met is so nice, but I’ve only chatted with most of them on and off.

In passing.

During walks.

We moved in here the summer before covid hit. So, we met a few folks as we settled in, but during the pandemic, we mostly said hi from afar.

Six feet apart, with masks, etc. You remember the drill.

Today we had the pleasure of really chatting with our next-door neighbors. We talked about gardening, empty nests, qualifying for discounts (he’s my age and former military), and more. After living here for four years, we just exchanged phone numbers.

Yes, I know…four years. But we did it!

Another step out of the old comfort zone!

Granted our yards are separated by a wooden fence (yes, that’s the fence in the photo) that is taller than I am. I can use that as an excuse, right?

Now, if you’ve been following the bouncing Llama since this blog’s inception, you’ll also know that I am an introvert. So, the fact that I am just getting to know our next-door neighbors should not come as a shock.

I should note, I did meet some of the folks across the street back in the beginning. One even uses Facebook, which was a great way to get to know each other from a distance.

Where was I?

Ah yes, walking the Llama.

When we get to a point in our lives where it feels like things are slowing down, it’s nice to have the time to get to know other people.

Make new friends.

Chat a little.

Exchange numbers, or Facebook information.
