Book Review: The Forgotten by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Back in my bookseller days, when a customer would ask for recommendations in my section (Romance, of course), Sherrilyn Kenyon and her alter ego, Kinley MacGregor, were always in my list. The Forgotten, originally published as Born in Sin (as Kinley MacGregor), is one of the reasons why.

This book grabbed me from the start, wouldn’t let me go, and kept me up late at night, reluctant to put it down.

The third in Kenyon’s The Brotherhood of Sword series, The Forgotten stands well on its own. But I would advise picking up the first two, The Forsaken and The Highlander (if you haven’t already), along with this one. Reading all three, in order, added layers of richness that warmed my heart.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

From Goodreads:

A medieval romance where a Highland lady is ordered to marry the man they call the Devil’s son—a feral knight so hated his own mother refused to give him a name.

They call him Lord Sin. She’s been ordered to make him her husband.

Caledonia MacNeely fights an unfamiliar shiver when she is offered in marriage to the infamous knight others claim is the Devil’s own son. A man so hated his own mother refused to even name him.

But Callie fears this feral warrior less for the dark whispers that damn him than for the uncertainty he evokes in her—feelings she cannot name and cannot control.

She is under order of the English marry him or see her clan destroyed.

Bringing the devil into her clan is foolhardy. It may be fatal. But refusing the King is not an option. And the closer Callie gets to the man behind the terrifying legend, the more she wonders if the real danger isn’t the monster they warned her about—but the way he’s making her feel.

Dark, passionate, and utterly compelling—The Forgotten is a medieval romance for readers who love tortured heroes, brave heroines, and the redemption that comes from being seen for who you truly are.
